An attractive small to medium-sized tree, ideal for smaller backyards and will happily grow in a large tub. Abius will fruit within 3 years of planting and produce smooth, yellow-skinned fruits with translucent flesh whose flavour resembles caramel. This variety has been selected for its large, generous fruits, compact nature and bountiful cropping. Abiu likes plenty of water in slightly acidic, well-mulched soil. Alkaline soils will need to be improved with mulch and the addition of sulphur to increase acidity if required. The young trees require protection from extremes in temperature and excessive sun but, once established, are relatively easy to care for, and able to tolerate brief periods of both drought and frost. They may be pruned to maintain size and shape but it is not necessary
