Elaeagnus latifolia. Indian Olive Fruit Tree - 2 Litre.

 

A rare and unuusal fruit tree, seldom cultivated outside of its native range. Sometimes referred to as Indian Olive or Silver Berry. This small to medium tree has a delightful weeping habbit that can be enhanced with clever pruning. Silver tinched, green foliage, small clusters of flowers attractive to bees and butterlies and then an abundance of elonfated, orange red fruit that are sweet and mildlighy astringernt when ripe. Fruits can be eaten fresh or made into jams and jellies. The slightly less ripe fruit are appreciated with salt and eaten as a snack in India. Relativly fast growning, trees will produce in 3 years and are draught hardy once established. Neatral, well drained soil is ideal with  plenty of mulch and regular water, especialy when young.
