Chrysophyllum cainito - Star Apple ROSE. Fruit Tree, 2 Litre.

Chrysophyllum cainito, commonly known as star apple or caimito, is a tropical tree belonging to the Sapotaceae family, native to the Caribbean, Central America, and parts of South America. This evergreen tree is known for its striking appearance and sweet, juicy fruit.

The star apple tree typically grows to a height of 15 to 20 meters, with a dense, rounded canopy of glossy, dark green leaves. The leaves are arranged in clusters at the tips of branches, creating a visually appealing display. When the leaves are held up to the light, they exhibit a golden-brown hue, giving rise to the tree's common name, "star apple."

The fruit of Chrysophyllum cainito is round to oval in shape, with smooth, thin skin ranging in colour from green to purple. The flesh of the fruit is juicy and sweet, often described as resembling a blend of tropical flavours such as grape, pear, and lychee. The fruit typically contains several seeds, which are not consumed.

In addition to its delicious fruit, Chrysophyllum cainito holds cultural significance in various regions where it grows. In some cultures, the fruit is considered a symbol of good luck or prosperity and is used in traditional ceremonies and rituals.

While Chrysophyllum cainito is primarily cultivated for its fruit, the tree also offers other benefits. Its dense foliage provides shade, making it a valuable addition to tropical landscapes and gardens. Additionally, the wood of the tree is occasionally used in construction and carpentry. This variety has been selected for its green skin creamy rose coloured flesh. Full sun to part shade. Mild frost and drought hardy once established.
